Comnet Communications does not take shortcuts in our products (fiber optics and coax cabling).

Some common questions about Comnet Communications...

What is fiber optics and how do you use them?

Fiber optic cable is used to connect one floor to another and also multiple floors.  As Cat6 cable can only be functionanl up to 328', fiber optic cable can go much greater distances.  The equipment used for communications over multi-mode optical fiber, is less expensive than that for single-mode optical fiber.  Typical transmission speed and distance limits are 100 Mbit/s for distances up to 2 km (100BASE-FX), 1 Gbit/s up to 1000m, and 10 Gbit/s up to 550m.

What kinds of businesses can benefit from Comnet Communications?

Any and all businesses, schools, government offices, can all benefit from our pre-negotiated GSA contract.

What kinds of businesses have you serviced?

IRS, CIA, FBI, US District Courts, Pre-Trail, USPS, Federal Marshals, USDA, law firms, Par Electric, prisons, banks, hair salons, US Army, US Navy, USMC, USAF, Pentagon, movie production sets, bakeries, warehouses, doctors' offices, Aviation firms, schools, SSA, and many more...

What is your philosophy on running your business?

Top quality work and products, no shortcuts.  There is usually only one way to do any project, and with our 32 + years experience, that is the way that we do it.

What is the difference between using fiber optics cabling, copper cabling, and coax cabling, and when would you use each?

Each has their own purpose.  Coax cabling is for CCTV and TV.  Fiber optics cabling is for linking floors and MDF's to IDF's, as well as for connecting in city's based fiber.  Copper cabling is for connecting users to the network secured, or to connect wireless applications.

What is an APC installation?

It is for battery backup if the power goes out.  It will usually keep the servers and all other equipment working from between 2-4 hours.  It also serves as a surge protector.

What is Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6+, and Cat6a structured cabling and when would you use each?

Cat5 is obsolete, slower data speed.  Cat5e is still used but again has a slower data speed.  Cat6, Cat6+. and Cat6a cabling can support up to and about 1 Gigabyte which is today's standard for high connectivity.

Do you do residential jobs?

Only on new construction during the construction process.

Which states do you do jobs in?

CO, CA, AZ, NM, NV, WY, IL, MO, MN, KS, HI, TX, and others...just ask us if we do work in your state.

What "extras" do you do?

Do you train the business' personnel in how to use the equipment once it is installed?
